Analysis of the Flow Energy Loss and Q-H Stability in Reversible Pump Turbine as Pump with Different Guide Vane Opening Angles

The internal flow problem of a reversible pump turbine restricts its safe and stable operation. Among them, the influence guide vane on field is very crucial. flow–head relationship great significance in performance stability unit. In this study, characteristics under different rates were analyzed for opening angles. By comparing results model test computational fluid dynamics simulation, it was found that simulation can well predict energy distribution. There an optimal efficiency range each angle. increase or decrease will reduce efficiency. For head, significantly with rate, especially when deviates seriously from region. From contour loss vector velocity, be seen head drop closely related to blockage caused by difference between runner incoming direction installation vane. This study deeply revealed valley peak variation conditions. It provide technical support improving wide operation turbine.
